Biographical / Historical

The American Lutheran Church (ALC or sometimes TALC) was a Christian Protestant denomination in the United States and Canada that existed from 1960 to 1987. Its headquarters were in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Upon its formation in 1960, the ALC designated Augsburg Publishing House, also located in Minneapolis, as the church publisher. The Lutheran Standard was the official magazine of the ALC. American Lutheran Church was the merger of: · The "Old" American Lutheran Church (1930-1960) · Lutheran Free Church (1897-1963) · The Evangelical Lutheran Church (formally Norwegian Lutheran Church in America) (1917-1960) · United Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church (1896-1963)
