Biographical / Historical
Rev. Elder John Metzler was born in Hanover, PA on May 23, 1843, the son of John and Louisa Metzler. He graduated from Pennsylvania College in Gettysburg, now known as Gettysburg College, and from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg in 1875. he was ordered as a minister in the Lutheran Church in 1975, and from 1875 to c. 1888 served as pastor of St. John's Lutheran church in Littlestown, PA. He married Martia Bart in 1876 and had three children: John Hr., Stella, and Alvin. Metzler died on May 10, 1905.
