Biographical / Historical
Rev. Robert W. Sassaman was a graduate of Gettysburg College and the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg. He was ordained on June 12, 1969, and was pastor of Christ Roth Envangelical Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Previous parishes included St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Carlisle, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dillsburg, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Franklintown. His ministry also included trips to the Konde Diocese in Tanzania, Africa, and to St. Petersburg, where he taught seminary students at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Russia. He was also a retired U.S. Navy Reserve chaplain after 23 years of military service.
