The Rev. Dr. Norman J, G. Wickey was a graduate of Gettysburg College (1912) and the Theolgical Seminary at Gettysburg (1915). He recieved his PhD at Harvard Unviersity in 1922 as well as a DMin from Gettysburg College in 1929. LL.D., Howard College, 1939. Litt. D., Sterling College, 1940. D.D., Luther Seminary., Sask. Canada, 1943. L.H.D., Newberry College, 1950. D.Sc. in Education, Midland College, 1958. He was licensed by the Western Pennsylvania Synod in 1914 and ordained by the Maryland Synod in 1916. He was a pastor in Georgetown, Washington from 1916-1917, at St. Luke's in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1919, and St. Mark's in Fargo, North Dakota from 1924-1926. He was a professor at Concordia College from 1920-1926, President of Carthage College from 1926-1929, Executive Secretary for the Board of Higher Education at ULCA from 1929-1959, the Executive Secretary of the Council of Churches Boards of Education from 1934-1947, the General Secretary of the National Conference of Church related Colleges from 1935-1947, the Executive Secretary of AATS from 1942-1946, and the Executive Director of the National Lutheran Education Conference from 1958. He married Ethel Ruth Basehoar on August 29th, 1917 and fathered four children.
