Rev. John E. Ainsworth was a retired Lutheran minister, one-time pastor at Doubs, and a former superintendent of the Buckingham School
for Boys in Buckeystown.
A native of Frederick County, MD, he was born October 15, 1887, a son of the late David and Catherine Fogle Ainsworth.
He attended Gettysburg College (1912), and Gettysburg Seminary (1915). He was licensed by the Maryland Synod in 1917 and ordained in 1915.
During his active ministry, he served churches at New Haven, CT (1915-1922), Manor, MD (1922-1924), Buckeystown, MD (1935-1930), Woodsboro (1931) and at Shanksville, PA (1932-1935). Since his retirement, he had been a special agent of the New York Life Insurance Company.
He married Clara Eva Donstife on June 7, 1917, with whom he had 2 children, including John E. Aisworth Jr.(1920-2004), a NASA physisist.
Ainsworth died January 12, 1951.
