Biographical / Historical

Rev. George W. Anderson was born on September 7, 1821 in Rockingham, Virginia, the son of William and Hannah (Loftus). He attended Roanoke College, received his A.B. from Gettysburg College in 1850 and graduated from Gettysburg Seminary in 1852. He was licensed by Virginia Synod in 1852 and ordained in the Maryland Synod in 1853. He served as pastor of Creagerstown, MD (1852-1856), Uniontown, MD (1872-1875), Glen Gardner, NJ (1875-1882), Melsore, NY (1882-1885). He married Anna Maria Winter on Setember 25, 1855. Rev. Anderson died August 12, 1888.
