Biographical / Historical

William Henry Dunbar was born in Stone Church, PA on January 25, 1852, the son of Robert and Susan (Correl). He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1871 and gettysburg Seminary in 1874. He was licensed by the W. PA Synod in 1874 and ordained in 1875. He served as pastor at St. Peter's, Easton, PA (1874-80),Zion, Lebanon, PA (1880-1894), St. Mark's, Baltimore (1894-1917) and emeritus until 1920. He was director of Gettysburg Seminary, trustee of Gettysburg College and Tressler Orphan's Home. He was editor of Lutheran Church Work, 1908-1913, and association ed. 1912-1915. He married Jennie Chamberlain on October 7, 1880. Rev. Dunbar died December 24, 1920.
