Biographical / Historical
Carl Christian Rasmussen (1890-1992) was a Lutheran clergyman and professor at Gettysburg Seminary. Rasmussen was born on September 21, 1890. He recieved a BA from Gettysburg College in 1912 and a BD from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg in 1915 and was ordained by the ULCA the same year. He married Alma Irene Sieber in 1916. He recieved an MA from Columbia University in New York in 1923. He served as pastor of Zion, Newville PA (Feb 1915-Feb 1919), Trinity, Altoona PA (Febraury 1919-June 1922), Zion, Greensburg PA (June 1922-June 1923), Messiah, Harrisburg PA (June 1923-June 1930) and Luther Place, Washinton DC (June 1930-September 1940). He was a professor at LTSG from June 1940 until his retirement in August 1963.
