Biographical / Historical

The Rev. Augustus Ryneal (or Reinoehl) Steck was born on August 8, 1861 in Lancaster, PA to Danl and Susan (Myers) Steck. He received an A.B. from Gettysburg College in 1882; graduated from Gettysburg Seminary in 1886 and received a Doctor of Divinity from Gettysburg College in 1903. He was ordained by the Western Pennsylvania Synod in 1885 and served as pastor at Stewartsville, NJ, 1886-1891; 1st, Indianapolis, IN., 1891-1894; St. James, Gettysburg, PA, 1894-1903; Union, York, PA. 1903-1913; and 1st, Carlisle, PA 1914-1939. Rev. Steck died on December 27, 1943.
